Maine Hockey Development is excited to announce our ongoing collaboration with the ATLANTIC HOCKEY GROUP of Moncton New Brunswick to bring the ATLANTIC GOALTENDING ACADEMYto Maine for the summer of 2012. The camp will be held July 16th thru July 20th at the USM Gorham campus facility.

The Atlantic Hockey Group (AHG) has brought together the most experienced and qualified instructors in Atlantic Canada in order to continue to challenge students of all ages and abilities. The Atlantic Goaltending Academy will be offering programs across Atlantic Canada as well as the state of Maine. Our students can expect the same great goaltending programs, and more, that have been offered by the AHG over the last 10 years, including our very popular summer Foundational and High Intensity Goaltending programs. The Atlantic Goaltending Academy looks forward to offering students from the New England area a first class goaltending camp taking place in a great facility featuring a group of highly qualified and experienced instructors.

The program will provide an outstanding training program for young goaltenders. The program includes 2.5 hours (2 sessions per day) of individualized on-ice training per day. This camp is designed for young goalies looking to build solid puck stopping skills. We teach goalies how to be strong on their feet, how to control their rebounds, and how to go down effectively and efficiently. Because it is the school’s belief that there is no single style for playing goal, our objective is to assist goalies to develop and refine their own style of play. The essence of success is control, not style.

Maine Hockey Development is please to announce our 2012 Summer High School League at USM Ice Arena in Gorham and NYA. It is through our ongoing relationship with USM in hosting our spring tournaments that we are able to bring this program to Gorham after a successful year at the AB Colisee in Lewiston.

The MHD Summer HS league will offer High School teams a 10 game schedule based on a game format of two 22 minute stop time periods with an ice cleaning between periods. Games will be capped at 1 hr 20 minutes. Teams are to be formed with players eligible for the 2012/13 season.

The objective of the HS league is to provide the players with an opportunity to maintain their hockey conditioning and to have FUN.

Teams are welcome from all organization in the Varsity and JV levels. Scheduling will be carefully organized to provide competitive games while ensuring parity throughout the season.
